The BPI is the record labels’ association that promotes British music and champions the UK’s recorded music sector, including through its free training courses for members, content protection work, international trade missions, industry events, research, and management of the Music Export Growth Scheme. Its membership is made up of over 390 independent labels and the UK’s three Major Label groups. Collectively the BPI’s members broadly account for over 85% of domestic music consumption and one in six of all the artist albums sold around the world.
The BPI administers and certifies the iconic Platinum, Gold and Silver Awards Programme and co-owns the Official Charts with the retailers’ association ERA. The BPI owns and organises the celebrated BRIT Awards and its related events, including BRITs Week and the BRITs Icon Award, and is also home to the Mercury Prize.
We have an in house Content Protection unit which provides all PPL members with world leading free anti-piracy content protection services.
